HEAT PUMPS + THERMAL STORAGE

Store heat.

Store cold.

Use it when it matters.

Thermal storage makes an engineered heat pump system more flexible around site demand.

THERMAL STORAGE OPTIONS

Match the medium to the temperature and duty.

01

Water storage

A practical baseline for hot‑water and low‑temperature heating duty. Size around usable temperature difference, not just tank volume.

02

Ice storage

On the cold side, an ice tank stores cooling through the water‑to‑ice phase change. Charge and discharge must suit the plant and cooling profile.

03

Phase change material

We commonly use phase change technology where a tighter operating temperature band calls for more useful storage in a compact footprint.

THE STORAGE DENSITY ADVANTAGE

Up to ~4× useful storage density

compared with water in selected temperature bands.

This is an application‑specific material or system comparison, not a guaranteed fourfold reduction in tank size. We select the phase change temperature and verify the usable capacity, fill fraction, heat‑exchanger design, charge and discharge rates, and operating window for each site.

A good storage design also considers plant staging, controls, resilience and service access.
